It's the GLB Channelizer -- kind of an old device in kit form from the
late 70's/early80's (?) I got one at a hamfest 2 years ago for about 60
bucks and I think that's too much! It is definitely a technician's
special -- a bit flaky. It had been partly built, never tested -- you
need to get the right crystal for the proper receiver IF. Surprisingly,
the company (still exists) had crystals for an odd 20 Mhz IF (old RF
Communications VHF rig). I got it working on transmit (though flaky lock
on the top end of the band), and haven't gotten to the receiver because I
haven't realigned it for 2 meters yet.
If you like to mess around with older technology, it's a fun bet. If you
want something that works out of the box, let the buyer beware.

There are many simple FM mic type transmitter circuits out ther utilizing
Hartley and Colpitts oscilators but most of these are quite weak in terms of
power output and yields a typical range of about 100 to 200 meters in built up
areas. Does anyone out there know/have a simple to build amplifier which can
say increase this to a few kilometers but retaining the simplicity of the
oscillator section? A simple schematic would be nic without needing too many
hard to get parts, maybe using a 2N3866 and air wound coils. Anyone out there
with design expertise? Help!

I have a SW-77 SONY receiver. Are there any mods for this receiver? Does
anyone know what the second button in the battery compartment (under the
battery label, by the RESET button) does? Please mail responses to
troc@inca.gate.net, and thanks!
